Where Life and Faith Meet

Caught in the Act

We have two laws in our land. The Law and Folk Law. The Law says, "keep within the speed limit", Folk Law says, "the unlucky ones get caught".

A story is told of a woman who was "caught in the act of adultery", no description is given as to what she was doing, that's left to the imagination, but one thing is very clear the full weight of the LAW was about to come down upon her.

She was to be stoned to death for she had broken the Law. Enter Jesus. He asks of the stone throwers, "who of you have broken the law and not been caught?".

No one was brave enough to admit that the weight of the law was on themselves, so like snow flakes in the burning sun they melted away. Left alone, the woman and Jesus.

He says to her, "you are the lucky one, you got caught and I don't throw stones. You are forgiven!"

Grace is being caught by a God who doesn't throw stones and who forgives. How lucky can you get. That's amazing grace! Check out John 4:1-26.
