WASSUP - Saving Christmas
It's the time of the year when we all try to squeeze just that bit more out of ourselves in the rush to what we call Christmas. This year I've started a campaign called Saving Christmas; not that I think I can save Christmas but that Christmas could possibly save me.
Will you join me? Over the next four weeks do something counter culture, step out of the rat race and become a voice of one. Allow Christmas to save you!
Four "against the flow messages"
- Humility - the way of wisdom
- Simplicity - the answer to complexity
- Hospitality - the cure for loneliness
- Generosity - the gift that never ends

Notes will be posted on our web page
INSIGHT OUT - Wisdom
Wisdom starts when you admit you don't know everything
Wisdom is a question that becomes a quest
Wisdom surrenders to greatness
Wisdom changes self before others
Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.
Proverbs 4:5-8
OUTSIGHT IN - Changing channels
This week I'd had enough!
I was moved
I got angry
It caused me to write an email
To lift my finger and press the remote
I did it!
I changed channels
For years as part of my morning routine I had a cup of coffee as I watched the business news of the day. But with time comes change and the TV station has moved from news to "chat show news". That's not so bad but what gets me most is the cynical back chat that goes with it.
I don't want to start my day with a cynic.
Change channels.

SEE YA SUNDAY - Humility - the way of wisdom
Each year we gate crash God's Christmas party as the money changers of commercialism call us to their temples of worship. What would it look like if Christmas was saving us rather than spending us? This Sunday, allow humility to do its work in your life.

LAST WORD - The danger of knowing too much
To understand reality is not the same as to know about outward events. It is to perceive the essential nature of things. The best-informed man is not necessarily the wisest. Indeed there is a danger that precisely in the multiplicity of his knowledge he will lose sight of what is essential. But on the other hand, knowledge of an apparently trivial detail quite often makes it possible to see into the depth of things. And so the wise man will seek to acquire the best possible knowledge about events, but always without becoming dependent upon this knowledge. To recognize the significant in the factual is wisdom.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer
