Turn left push right

23 August 2007

WASSUP - Our nation's shame

Every day of every week seven children are admitted to Hospital due to neglect or abuse.

There are 20 confirmed cases of child abuse and/or neglect in New Zealand every day.

10 children will be killed this year by their caregiver.

This is our nation's shame!

Who will speak up for those who have no voice?

Will you?

INSIGHT OUT - Delayed return

Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return, I will repay you.

Luke 10:35

So what about the inn keeper? He didn't ask for this guy to be brought to his place and now he has the task of looking after him and getting paid when the Samaritan comes back. Yeah right!

Here's how it works ...

Caring for others always costs.

Caring and remuneration are separated to purify the motive of care.

Now here's the test ...

How much do you care?

OUTSIGHT IN - Turn left push right

A lesson from a Triumph Tiger

I've just learnt another way of riding the Tiger
If you want to turn left you push forward (your left hand) to the right
If you want to turn right you push forward (your right hand) to the left
It's like steering the opposite direction to where you want to go
It's the gyroscopic effect
The difference is quite amazing
It's far more relaxing and you have far more control of your lines
(only motor bike riders will appreciate this)

The implications of this are huge
Examine your current assumptions
reverse them
see if the opposite may be true

Try these ...
Time is money
We need more time
High quality, high cost
More is less
Increased productivity, increased profit
The world is round
People resist change
The 40 hour week
Only 24 hours in a day

What are some of the assumptions in your work place?
What would happen if they were reversed?
What are the conditions you need to create the gyroscopic effect?
Turn left, push right.
Weird but it works
