INSIGHT OUT - I Thou

The following words are inspired by the writings of Jewish Philosopher Martin Burber

It it
Stones in a tin can
Objects clashing with object

I it
I hit the can and the can hits me
Impressions of usury

I thou
Living being touching soul
Communion of heat, soul and mind

Thou thou
Soul touched by God
To breathe sacred breath

And you ask me why we live in a world of violence? Go figure!
Why do words kill rather than heal?
Why do people hide behind their cosmetic mask?
Why do we have so much talk and so little communion?

OUTSIGHT IN - Leaders of hope

As a leader, I owe you a respect and an understanding that you're legitimate in that relationship, that I cannot do very much without you. I also owe you a perceivable level of fairness. I'm going to make promises over time. You as a follower have to see those promises kept. The leader owes the follower productive conversations about the gifts that the follower brings to the organization and the kind of contributions the follower wishes to make - so that tasks can be designed to give that person hope. In organizations that work, hope is a very functional force and understanding the function of hope in an organization is essential.

How do you lead with hope?
Is hope alive and well in your workplace?
In what ways is hope destroyed?

LAST WORD - Courage

It takes courage to push yourself to places that you have never been before... to test your limits... to break through barriers. And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight inside the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
