Hands Open

2 November 2006

WASSUP - Hands open

More Snow Patrol ...

"It's hard to argue when
You won't stop making sense
But my tongue still misbehaves
And it keeps digging my own grave
With my hands open
And my eyes open
I just keep hoping
That your heart opens
Why would I sabotage
The best thing I have ."

Are you getting just a little short with others?

It could be ...
the time of the year
you are well and truly justified
with yourself

Problem magnifies when the argument is with yourself and you start making sense

Then you really have to listen

Be open to what you may hear

INSIGHT OUT - A cry for mercy

You must be
desperate or convicted
To cry for mercy
Nowhere else to go
Deaf ears hear no cry
Pride exhausted
To whom shall you plead your case?

so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till He shows us His mercy.

Psalm 123:2

OUTSIGHT IN - The have and have nots

For all the talk on empowerment there seem to be more and more people feeling powerless in their lives and work place.

One reason for this is our misunderstanding of the nature of power. We attribute power to the Institution or to those who hold institutional office.

If the sum total of power resides in the institution and those who hold office, then power is divided between the have and the have nots. If you are "outside" then you're rendered powerless.

Yes, "they" do have power but they don't have it all!

There is more power than you could ever imagine. Stop thinking of power as a limited resource that is divided and start thinking of it as an abundance that is to be multiplied.

Empowerment knows where to find the power; for once you know where the switch is, all you need do is, turn it on.

Oh, you always have power, if you just know where to find it. There is the power of inclusion and the power of language and the power of shared interest and the power of coalition. Power is all around you to draw upon, but it is rarely raw, rarely visible.

This week- When in need of some mercy where do you look?

Bread & Wine - 9.45am - Weekly Communion

LAST WORD - One prayer

If the only prayer you say in your whole life is "thank you" that would suffice.
