WASSUP - The World is flat

What will life look like in the next few years?

I've just started reading Thomas Friedman - The World is Flat

This book is for everyone who refuses to put their head in the sand. It is a book about the already present future that is coming towards us at a phenomenal speed. There are those of you who are still getting used to the fact that the world is round. Now it is time to rethink even that assumption. It's flat!

Enjoy.

INSIGHT OUT - A good name

A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold

Prov 22:1

How would you like your name dragged through the gutter and scandalized in the press?
You'd want to clear your name!
Your name is the most precious thing about you.
Do everything you can to protect it.
You wouldn't give your name away too easy, would you?

Here's an amazing twist. God wants to share His name with you and me, making us His children. That's dangerous! As God's children we have huge potential to drag our fathers name through the mud.

Now, look at that phrase in the Lord's Prayer, ". hallowed be your name"

May we look after our Father's name!

OUTSIGHT IN - Silence

I visited an old friend this week
It's been a while
The conversation started out with the usual .
How's it been?
What have you been up to?
What's new?
What's taken you so long?

Life's been busy
The list never grows shorter
I had to run just to get there
After a good time of chat and coffee the conversation slowed to a gentle walk and then came to a stop
We just sat together in a space that became sacred.

The sun bathed us in beauty
The clouds played pictionary in the sky
The sea glistened, disturbed only by the occasional wake
The trees stood still, at attention, waiting for their next command to come on the breath of the wind
We dared not speak a word
For to speak into this stillness would be profane.

Things, that just an hour ago were important, have also lost their voice
Anxious thoughts were sent to the back of the queue
Time suspended its judgement
A feeling of forever.

Breaking the stillness, a cell phone.
A call announcing my next appointment
I've got to go
I'll be back soon
I promise.

LAST WORD - Beauty

For he who would proceed aright .. should begin in youth to visit beautiful forms . out of that he should create fair thoughts; and soon he will himself perceive that the beauty of one form is akin to the beauty of another, and that beauty in every form is one and the same.
