WASSUP - Driftwood

I love walking the beach and exploring the rocks at the end
exploring new ideas
like picking up driftwood along the way

Philosophy is not a making of a home for the mind of reality. It is more like learning to leave things be: restoration in the wilderness, here and now . by "leaving things be", I do not mean inaction; I mean respecting things, being still in the presence of things, letting them speak.

Henry Bugbee 1976 The Inward Morning

Thanks for this time to chat and explore together

INSIGHT OUT - Listening before it is spoken

Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening"

1 Sam 3:10

I listen for your voice before it is spoken
a silence that anticipates sound
an empty chair that awaits your company
a space that longs to be filled

But I don't always hear
impatience has already finished your sentence
busyness competes for your chair
the space has been filled with noise
for when I hear your voice I've already missed it
because I wasn't listening

"Speak, for your servant is listening"

OUTSIGHT IN - Mind wander

Time to get up from your desk and take a mind wander
Yesterday, the day before and the day before that have cut a rut in your thinking
Familiar paths that always lead to the same end
The kind of thinking you do when you don't think

Let your mind wander
Day dream
Play with an idea
Think an impossible thought
and then ask, why not?

Now, back to work
but watch out for pot holes
you dug them for yourself yesterday

SEE YA SUNDAY - Does God really speak? Part one "Listening to hear"

Most people have no problem with the idea of talking with God. Even those who claim that God does not exist find themselves praying from time to time. But when it comes to hearing God speak many doubts emerge.

Why does God seem to speak to some people but not to me?

How do I know it is God who speaks?

Am I just hearing myself?

Am I making this up?

What does God's voice sound like?

What do I have to do to get God's attention?

But I still don't hear anything!

This series, "Does God really speak?" will address those questions and give you practical tools to actually hear God speak to you.

This Sunday morning - Does God really speak? Part one: "listening to hear" @ 8.30am & 10.30am

Bread & Wine - 9.45am - Weekly Communion

That means you can't cut and paste it and call it your own (that's stealing). I'm happy for it to be used but please refer to the author.

LAST WORD - Take off your shoes

Earth's crammed with heaven, and every common bush afire with God;
But only he who sees takes off his shoes.
