WASSUP - Appointment #2 at the orthodontist

Another appointment, another read, this time TIME

How Scared Should We Be?
Avian Influenza A (Bird flu) (H5N1)

Is this just another thing to worry about and prevent us from getting a good night's sleep? While the best experts say there is much we don't know there is also much we do know. The threat is very real on a world wide scale never seen before.

It seems likely that this is not an if, but when. So how will you manage when there is a pandemic?

Ignorance is not bliss.

Next week I hope to read something very encouraging while I wait for Phoebe at the orthodontist.

INSIGHT OUT - Know and be known

We know that we have come to know him

1 John 2:3

I know of many
I know a few
I am known by hardly any
For many who claim to know me
know only of me
and the few who know
see only what I show
To know and to be known
is the narrow way of love
exposed and venerable
the grace of accepting
knowing and being known

OUTSIGHT IN - Freedom from success

Do you live your life as if you have a point to prove?
Is the reason why you are so driven an addiction; a disease to please?
Who are you trying to impress?
Is success your answer to everything?
One of the great dangers of our culture are our aspirations of success.
To become someone who has made it.
Whatever that means. No one really knows, yet it drives us all.
But few, if any, will tell you that success doesn't fix anything.
It's just more of whatever.
While you remain whoever you are.
Same fears, worries and nightmares, but now only more.
The same doubts that look back at you in the mirror.
Why can't you say 'no'?
Why do you intend on killing yourself?
Come on - give me an answer!
Stop playing hide-n-seek with your shadow.
If this is you, you need help.
Dig deep till it hurts.
Come clean.
Be prepared even to fail.
For only then are you free to succeed.

LAST WORD - The days keep coming, coming ...

The days keep coming, coming ...
they watch me,
waiting
full of expectant light.
