WASSUP - Something missing?

Have you noticed something missing this week?
It's been quiet;
not a whisper,
not a sound,
not a politician to be found.
And, the sun still rises
and the world still turns
and the share market still trades.
It's been very nice really,
post election week.
They're still counting,
wonder who will break the silence first?

Blessings

Andrew

INSIGHT OUT - Forever

Forever is a very big word
and thankfully one I can spell with ease,
it marks the dimensions of time and beyond.
Forever is too long for a child who waits for Christmas,
beyond the reach of today.
Forever exposes to sham of all that glitters,
here today and gone tomorrow.
Forever is a promise that laughs at death,
a horizon as yet out of sight.
Forever is now,
for now is forever.

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.

Isaiah 40:8

I chatter, chatter, as I flow to join the brimming river; for men may come and men may go. But I go on forever.

from "The Brook" - Tennyson

OUTSIGHT IN - Blinded by your own light

It is a mark of many famous people that they cannot part from their brightest hour; what worked once must always work.

Lillian Hellman

Chances are that it won't be our failures but our successes that blind us.
The finest hour is relived again and again until it becomes engraved in stone and worshipped as "The Way."
Those who come after and ask "why?" are treated as enemies of "the way" and viewed with suspicion and fear.
How many prophets has your organization stoned or banished into some far flung exile where their voice can no longer be heard?
The mantra "if it ain't broke don't fix it" sustains the external facade; yet you and I both know the days of the facade are numbered.
So if this is your finest hour, be sure to wear your sunnies so you are not blinded by your own light.

SEE YA SUNDAY - "Where your feet lead"

This Sunday morning - 8.30am & 10.30am: Where your feet lead
Part two in a series on 1 John - Real life / Real faith

Can I ask you a straight question?
Thanks, I will anyway.
Is your life and faith really working for you?

Over the next few weeks we will be exploring that question in a series of messages based on the book of 1 John.

You'll learn ...

  • How to spot a phoney
  • How to walk the talk
  • How to win in the midst of a battle
  • How to really love

Bread & Wine - 9.45am: Weekly Communion

The Ride - 5.30pm: It's a post-modern world - Finding your style of prayer - Emily Hutchinson

Thanks for this time to chat.

It's free but don't steal

If this is of help to others, you are welcome to forward it. This e-mail letter is 97% original - 3% cut and paste & 100% fat free. 4U is copyright to Andrew Norton. That means you can't cut and paste it and call it your own (that's stealing). I'm happy for it to be used but please refer to the author.

LAST WORD - The road goes ever on

The road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the road has gone,
and I must follow if I can.
Pursuing it with weary feet,
until it joins some larger way,
where many paths and errands meet.
And wither then?
I cannot say.
