200th edition

Thank you
What an amazing experience to turn 200 today!
That you would keep reading what I write and encourage me to keep going
Each week I start with absolutely nothing and some how the words seem to come
Each week I truly believe I have written my last one
But the words seem to write the writer

I am currently working on putting a collection together; to publish a book later this year (or early next).
I'll keep you posted.

Special thanks to Sue, Carol, Helga, Emily and Trish for your support and encouragement and for editing my words without editing my heart.

Thanks again

Andrew

WASSUP - Out of the question and into the quest

Hidden within the question lies a quest
Quest-ion
Questions demand answers;
a quest calls for your heart.

Questions seek knowledge;
a quest requires courage.

Questions define the destination;
a quest is a journey.

Questions more often than not, are loaded;
a quest is open to surprise and mystery.

Oh that we would step out of the question and into the quest.

INSIGHT OUT - Bread & wine

Go and prepare the Passover meal, so we can eat it together

Lk. 22:8

Bread
food for the body and soul
Wine
drink for the thirsty and those who have forgotten how to sing

Bread
grains of wheat ground
Wine
the fruit of the vine crushed

Bread
this is my body broken for you
Wine
this is my blood shed for you

Bread and wine
betrayal and forgiveness
God and man sharing the same substance and cup
eating and drinking together

OUTSIGHT IN - The Blue Door

The hinges told you
this door had been around forever,
but the fresh paint made you feel
you were the first to accept its invitation.

The colour blue was simultaneously cold and warm,
you wanted to resist and accept its invitation
knowing that no one who came to this door
remained unchanged.

The door handle held out its hand
as you were welcomed by name
past, present and future stood on the door step as one.

As the door slowly opened
you could see stone steps
leading to a pathway unknown.

Carved deeply within each step
a word.

It's free but don't steal

If this is of help to others, you are welcome to forward it. This e-mail letter is 97% original - 3% cut and paste & 100% fat free. 4U is copyright to Andrew Norton. That means you can't cut and paste it and call it your own (that's stealing). I'm happy for it to be used but please refer to the author.

LAST WORD - Absolutely Clear

Don't surrender your loneliness
so quickly. Let it cut more deep.
Let it ferment and season you,
as few human or divine ingredients can.

Something missing in my heart tonight,
has made my eyes so soft,
my voice so tender,
my need of God absolutely clear.

Don't surrender your loneliness so quickly.

Shams-ud-din Muhammad Hafiz

Translated by: Daniel Ladinsky
Lyric arrangement (and words) from and based on a poem in The Subject Tonight Is Love, copyright 1996 and 2003 by Daniel Ladinsky.
